EMRMC Medical / Surgical Services

When you need to be hospitalized because of an illness, injury or after surgery, be close to family and friends and cared for within your own CriticalCarecommunity. That's exactly what you can have with the caring and attentive staff of our Medical/Surgical Services.

Medical/Surgical Services are provided on the third floor of our Medical Center. Our third-floor unit serves patients of all ages and includes pediatrics, oncology and adult medical/surgical services.

Our skilled nurses – many of whom have specialized certifications and advanced skill training - help in the recovery process so you can be discharged home or transferred for further care. If you are hospitalized because of a new illness, such as stroke, diabetes or congestive heart failure, our nursing staff will educate you and your family on managing that illness during your stay and at discharge.

Visitors and patients may park in the visitor parking lot located adjacent to the South Wing (accessed off Figg Alley via Third Street or Fourth Street) or they may park on the fourth level of the City Parking Garage. Special visiting rules: A number of units at EMRMC have special rules about visiting -

Critical Care

Visitors are welcome when the patient's condition allows it. Visitors are asked to use the intercom outside the waiting area before entering a patient's room.

During the hours of 6:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., only one visitor is allowed in the room unless special arrangements are made with the attending nurse.

Obstetrics/Newborns

Visitors should be limited to two at one time – other than the support person and the immediate family's children.

During delivery, your support person and up to two visitors may be in the room, if desired.

We discourage visits by children other than the newborn's siblings due to the possibility of exposure of the newborn to a communicable disease or infection.

Pediatrics

Visiting hours are 8:00 am - 8:30pm. We require 24-hour support from a parent or guardian.
