Clark's Comments

Congratulations!!!  As reported in last week's System FIRST newsletter, the Ephraim McDowell Health system exceeded its 2004 goal for the ñWould you return?î question on patient satisfaction surveys.  What an amazing accomplishment for each of us to proud of!  We have set this year's patient satisfaction goal at 98.25 percent.

No matter what department you work in ¿ whether it's housekeeping, nursing or security ¿ you play an important role in whether our patients are satisfied with the care provided to them.  As you perform your job duties, follow our FIRST values ¿ Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service and Trust ¿ and I have no doubt that we'll meet our patient satisfaction goals at the end of this fiscal year.

We recently adopted a new tag line for the EMH system ¿ Our Mission. Your Health.  This new tag line is very appropriate as we endeavor for high marks in patient satisfaction.  Let's keep up our hard work for another year as we live out our mission being the health of our patients.

Mission and Values

By Tim Noel, Chief Mission Officer

On the eve of Election Day, and with our country once again divided down the middle, it might be good for us to step back and reflect on who we are.  I plan to vote, and I am as passionate about politics as anyone I know, but there are things that are more important to me than my politics.  My friendships transcend politics.  My being a neighbor transcends politics.  My love for country is not partisan.  And neither is our work at EMH.  There are no litmus tests for the care we give.  The doors open to all, and all are welcome here.
