Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center's Pain
Management Center receives re-accreditation by the American
Academy of Pain Management
September 28, 2004 - Danville, Kentucky - The Pain Management
Center at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center has
received re-accreditation by the American Academy of
Pain Management. The re-accreditation follows an on-site
survey at the Pain Management Center earlier this year.
The re-accreditation award was presented to the Pain
Management Center staff at the annual meeting of the
National Academy of Pain Management, held in San Antonio,
Texas, on September 9.
The re-accreditation means that the Pain Management
Center has met the standards of quality directed toward
improving patient care and alleviating human suffering.
"We are pleased that the Pain Management Center has
achieved re-accreditation," said Barry Michael, president
of Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
"Re-accreditation acknowledges the hard work of the
talented and dedicated staff to provide quality services."
The Pain Management Center opened in June 1998. Dr.
Madar Bux is the medical director for the Pain Management
Center. The center provides pain management services
to individuals who experience acute or chronic pain,
including shingles as well as pain caused by automobile
accident injuries, degenerative disc disease and spinal
stenosis. Treatment methods may include nerve blocks,
exercise, stress management, physical and occupational
therapy, nutritional counseling and medication.
