Ephraim McDowell Health names new officers for board
of directors
October 26, 2004 - Danville, Kentucky - Ephraim McDowell
Health announces four new officers for its board of
directors for the 2004-2005 fiscal year. They are Phil
Osborne, chair; Joseph L. Lukins, M.D., vice chair;
Evelyn Guerrant, secretary; and Walter Goggin, treasurer.
Osborne is owner and CEO of Preston-Osborne, a marketing
communications and research firm located in Lexington.
He has been employed with the company for 20 years and
owned it for seven years. He previously served three
years on the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center
board of directors and was chair of the Ephraim McDowell
Health Resource board for one year and of the Ephraim
McDowell Health Care Foundation board for three years.
Osborne also serves as chair of the United Way of Kentucky
board of directors and is a past chair of the Heart
of Kentucky United Way. He is a member of the Second
Presbyterian Church in Lexington, where he lives with
his wife, Jennifer. They have four children: Matthew,
who is attending Centre College; Caelin, who is attending
Eastern Kentucky University; Emily, a student at Lexington
Catholic High School; and Anne Ward, a student at Beaumont
Middle School in Lexington.
Lukins is an orthopedic surgeon on the medical staff
at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He has
practiced in Danville since 1976. He previously served
six years as a member of the Ephraim McDowell Regional
Medical Center board of directors and four years as
a member of the Ephraim McDowell Health Resource board
of directors. He also formerly served as chief of staff
at the Medical Center.
Lukins is a member of the Presbyterian Church in Danville.
He and his wife, Joanie, have two children: Josh, who
lives in Lexington, and Katie, who lives in Louisville.
Guerrant is owner of Guerrant Real Estate in Danville
and has lived in Danville since 1976. She is chair of
the Leadership Committee for Heart of Kentucky United
Way and is a past chair of both Heart of Kentucky United
Way and United Way of Kentucky. She previously served
on the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center board
of directors and is a former chair of the Ephraim McDowell
Health board.
Guerrant is a past elder and current deacon at the First
Christian Church. She has three sons - Brian Darnell
and Ben Guerrant, both of Danville, and Eric Guerrant,
who is completing a residency in Emergency Medicine
at the University of Louisville - and two granddaughters.
Goggin, a Danville native, is a certified public accountant
and partner in the Robinson, Hughes and Christopher
accounting firm. He currently serves as secretary of
the Boyle County Industrial Foundation and previously
served as treasurer for that group. He previously served
on the boards of Heart of Kentucky United Way and the
Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce. He also is
secretary/treasurer of the Boyle County Cattlemen's
Association. He previously served five years on the
Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center board of directors
and was vice chair for two years.
Goggin is a member and deacon at Indian Hills Christian
Church. He and his wife, Lea, have two daughters: Jenna,
who is studying nursing at Central Kentucky Technical
College, and Susanna, who is attending the University
of Kentucky.
