Because of the seriousness of the H1N1 flu, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital are limiting visitation with patients. To protect the health of our patients, volunteers, employees, visitors and physicians, visitors must be 18 years of age or older. Also, only one visitor is allowed per patient.
“Our patients and the care they receive is our top priority. Limiting visitors will minimize the chance of spreading H1N1 and the seasonal flu. In addition to the age and number of visitor restrictions, we ask individuals not to visit friends and family at the hospital if they are ill or if they have family members at home with flu-like symptoms,” said Rick Smith Sr., spokesperson for Ephraim McDowell Health.
“Limiting the age and number of visitors coming into the hospitals is necessary because of the H1N1 flu and the serious impact it can have on certain individuals,” Smith said.
As a further precaution, the hospitals are asking individuals seeking medical attention for flu-like symptoms to wear a surgical mask while inside the hospital. The masks are provided by the hospital in registration areas.
