When it comes to health care, individuals want the best quality care available at the lowest cost . . . and they want it to be as convenient as possible. Ephraim McDowell Health is committed to providing quality health care and has received several accreditations that attest to the quality services it provides.
One of those accreditations has been bestowed upon Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center through The Joint Commission, a national accreditation agency that measures the quality of care provided by healthcare facilities. In the healthcare industry, Joint Commission accreditation is seen as a “gold seal of approval”.
“We are very pleased to have earned Joint Commission accreditation for our Regional Medical Center along with some of our other facilities,” said Clark Taylor, chief executive officer of Ephraim McDowell Health. “This accreditation reflects the hard work and dedication of our Associates, medical staff and Auxiliary to provide quality care.”
The other facilities that are Joint Commission accredited are Ephraim McDowell Diagnostic Center, McDowell Wellness Center Rehabilitation Services, Kids Can Do Pediatric Therapy Center, the Sleep Disorders Center, the Diabetes and Endocrinology Center and MedSource, a supplier of durable medical equipment.
Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center also was recognized – for two consecutive years – as one of the nation’s top performance improvement leader hospitals. Hospitals that earned the recognition met or exceeded national benchmarks for the rate and consistency of improvement in clinical outcomes, safety, hospital efficiency and financial stability.
“Receiving this honor for two consecutive years is testimony that our organization is living its mission of creating a healing environment,” Taylor said. “The honor recognizes the hard work contributed by our board of directors, medical staff and all Associates in performance improvement.”
The most recent honor bestowed upon Ephraim McDowell Health is recognition as a Certified Preferred Employer at the highest level through The Work Institute, based in Brentwood, TN. Ephraim McDowell Health is one of only two employers, among more than 130 healthcare organizations that are a part of The Work Institute’s programs, receiving such a distinction.
The Work Institute began working with Ephraim McDowell Health in 2005 to develop employee surveys, which are conducted via telephone on an ongoing basis by The Work Institute. According to the schedule determined by Ephraim McDowell Health, about one-quarter of the workforce are randomly selected to participate in the confidential surveys during each quarterly cycle. The surveys help the healthcare organization to identify areas of concern to employees and then Ephraim McDowell Health develops action plans to meet those concerns.
“Distinction as a Certified Preferred Employer is a select honor for us,” Taylor said. “It validates that we want to be the employer of choice in this region.”
