Vascular diseases become common as individuals age, and can include any condition that affects the body’s circulatory system (arteries, veins and lymph vessels). The services of a vascular surgeon are now available in Danville through Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Ephraim McDowell Vascular opened in August with the addition of Neil S. Weintraub, M.D. to the Regional Medical Center’s medical staff. The office is located at 321 South Third Street in Danville and offers a full range of services for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the arteries and veins.
“We are very pleased to expand our patient services to include vascular surgery,” said Vicki Darnell, chief operating officer at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. “We recognized the need in the community for these services and are happy that we could recruit Dr. Weintraub to our community and the medical staff.”
Dr. Weintraub is board-certified in vascular surgery and has 30 years of experience. He relocated to Danville from New York, where he practiced with The Westchester Medical Group.
A 1979 graduate of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. Weintraub completed an internship in general surgery in 1980 at New York University and a residency there in general surgery in 1984. He also completed a fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery in 1985 at New York University.
Dr. Weintraub has been board-certified in general surgery since October 1985 and in vascular surgery since May 1998. He also is a Diplomate with the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Dr. Weintraub’s practice includes treating patients with carotid disease, aortic aneurysms, lower extremity vascular disease, hemodialysis access and venous disease. He will utilize the new Cardiovascular Cath Lab at the Regional Medical Center for minimally invasive endovascular procedures. Open surgical procedures will be performed in a state-of-the-art vascular operating room at the Regional Medical Center.
