In the fast-paced world we live in, many individuals don’t have time for the minor emergencies that sometimes occur. Those things such as coming home from work to a sick child or waking up on the weekend with a sore throat. Or perhaps a child’s injury at soccer practice.
Ephraim McDowell Health offers the community two choices for immediate care in Danville for those minor medical events. Weekend Walk-in Care is located at 109 Daniel Drive on the east side of Danville and Bluegrass Immediate Care is located at 478 Whirl-A-Way Drive, Suite 200, on the west side of Danville.
Weekend Walk-in Care, located inside the Danville Family Physicians facility, is open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Bluegrass Immediate Care, located across from Boyle County Fairgrounds, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. It is a partnership between Ephraim McDowell Health and four local physicians – Drs. Finley Hendrickson, Jonathan Clark, Jim Duncan and Matthew Graves.
“We were very pleased to open Bluegrass Immediate Care in June as an expansion of the immediate care services we provide to the communities we serve,” said Vicki Darnell, executive vice president of Ephraim McDowell Health. “We realize the need for these services in the community because we live in an age where we don’t have time to get sick, yet we still get sick on occasion.”
The two facilities are available to meet the immediate care needs of individuals, who may simply walk in for services . . . no appointment needed. Both facilities can help with sore throats, earaches, coughs and colds, minor injuries, strains and sprains and treatment of flu symptoms. In addition, both facilities also offer full lab services on-site as well as X-ray services.
Another service provided by Bluegrass Immediate Care is DOT/CDL, school and sports physicals.
“We offer these immediate care facilities because we want to make medical care more convenient for residents in the communities we serve,” Darnell said.
She pointed out that seeking services at an immediate care center is more favorable than going to a hospital emergency room, because the wait time typically is considerably less at an immediate care center and because it will free up the emergency room for true emergencies.
Weekend Walk-in Care is available by calling (859)239-6522. Bluegrass Immediate Care may be contacted by calling (859)236-3208.
