Ephraim McDowell offers a new approach to the early detection of breast cancer through our Women’s Breast & Health Center. As a result, you enjoy a spa-like environment while taking steps to detect the second-leading cause of women’s cancer.
We offer private changing rooms, warm robes, and a private locker to secure valuables. Patients wait in a tranquility area with plush chairs and a foot rest. Relaxing music plays in the background. Coffee, tea or water is available for our patients. Because of these features, patients feel they are in a spa-like environment.
One of our professional staff members will perform your exam. We use state-of-the-art 3D Tomosynthesis for mammograms. With this technology, the X-ray tube moves in an arc over the compressed breast. It captures multiple images of each breast from different angles. A computer reconstructs these images into a set of three-dimensional images. The image sets minimize the tissue overlap that can hide cancers or make it difficult to distinguish normal overlapping breast tissue from tumors. As a result, a small lump can be discovered up to two years before it can be felt with fingers.
We offer bone density analysis and ultrasound if necessary. Because of that, patients can have multiple exams in one visit. This saves time for our patients. We can perform ultrasound of the breast, abdomen, pelvis or thyroid.
A radiologist is on-site. The physician reads tests as they are completed. As a result, you can know your test results before you leave. The physician will review your exam results with you in a private room.

Here’s what one of our recent patients said about having her mammogram at our Women’s Breast & Health Center:
“I just wanted to thank everyone from the receptionist to the doctor for my wonderful experience at the new Breast Care Center. I will and have already told my friends to go there for the best experience possible, which I think says a lot for something that some women put off because they dread it so much.”
